Advantage Travel Partnership has expressed its concern for those affected by the recent attack on Riyadh airport and urged travellers to stay informed and speak to their travel provider about any upcoming plans.

Julia Lo Bue-Said OBE, CEO of Advantage Travel Partnership, which represents independent travel agents, said:

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the recent attack on Riyadh airport, and we recognise the concern and uncertainty these developments will cause for travellers with plans to visit or transit through the region.

Travellers should monitor the latest Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advice and check directly with their airline or travel provider for updates on their booking. Where the FCDO advises against all but essential travel to a destination, package holidaymakers may be entitled to cancel and receive a full refund if their trip has not already been cancelled by the operator. However, if the destination is not subject to such advice and the flight is operating, travellers cannot generally cancel a package holiday for a refund. We would encourage anyone concerned about their trip to speak to their travel agent or tour operator, who can advise on their options and whether any flexibility is available.”
